We’re part of Men in Balance, a non-profit dedicated to helping men in their spiritual walk. If you’ve been skipping out on church because of work or because you were just too tired, it’s time to get real. Do a cost/benefit analysis and see what you’re giving up in the process.

Why should you be in church?
There are hundreds of reasons–not the least of which is your own family. Kids especially need a grounding in faith. It will sustain them and guide them later.
Can’t I be just as spiritual at home or in nature?
Of course you can. but there’s something about worshipping together with others which adds multiple layers of meaning to the experience. Plus, it gives the family a common reference point to have meaningful conversations about what really matters in life.
I’m so turned off by organized religion!!
That is understandable. some churches have done a lot of harm in the way they present religion and faith issues. But there is a church that is right for you and your family if you are open to “shopping around.”
What if i have had a bad experience with church?
It is probably not wise to base your thinking about faith issues on one experience. Maybe its time to re-think the real purpose of church and faith from your current perspective. What is missing from your life?
Churches only wany my money, right?
Of course, every church has expenses to manage but it is rare to see a church mainly focused on money. That is probably not a good fit for you or anyone else. Give what you can when you can, then don’t worry about it.
